Re -BMV Repeat Balloon mitral valvuloplasty (BMV) in Rheumatic Mitral severe Restenosis. | Dr. Vaibhav Patil

Consultant and Interventional Cardiologist in Pune, Dr. Vaibhav Patil is glad to share a about recent Percutaneous Transluminial Mitral commertiotomy (PTMC )/Balloon Mitral Valvotomy. A 43 year male came with history of breathlessness and palpitations since 1 month.He was admitted at outside hospital . He came with heart rate of 120 / minutes irregularly irregular BP 110/70 mmHg . His rate was control and he was advised for Percutaneous Transluminial Mitral commertiotomy (PTMC )/Balloon Mitral Valvotomy (BMV). He had history of similar procedure 22 years back (status Post BMV in year 2000 ). His echo suggestive of Rheumatic Heart disease severe Mitral stenosis (Mitral valve area 0.9 Sq. Cm ) No evidence of Mitral regurgitation. Mild Pulmonary artery hypertension. His Transoesophageal Echocardiography doesn’t show Left atrial or Left atrial appendage clot. He underwent successfully Percutaneous Transluminial Mitral commertiotomy (PTMC )/Balloon Mitral Valvotomy (BMV). POST BMV patient Mitral valve area 1.6-1.7 Sq Cm. On second post operative day patient discharge in stable condition.
